    • A ship main diesel engine mathematical model was developed and simulated.
    • Subsystems for the main diesel engine (fuel, LO, cooling, scavenging, and exhaust) were modeled and simulated.
    • Ship propulsion system with a propeller was modeled for a contanership, meeting the power requirements of the ship was modeled and simulated.
    • Environmental conditions affecting the ship motions were encountered.
    • A hardware panel for main engine control system was developed and integrated as the HMI for the simulator.
    • Ship main parameters were displayed.
    • Scenarious created to start the ship in various initial conditions.

Development a Simulator for Ship Power, Control and Monitoring Systems for Use in Maritime Education & Training (TUBITAK 1507)

In this project, a simulator dedicated to train marine engineers on electrical power generation, control and consumption subjects. The simulator will be used in training. It will be a first example product in the world in its category. In this project, control and monitoring systems will also be simulated.

Note 2: This project aims to measure required engine and ship parameters to measure, analyze and report the ship operational efficiency and performance of the components (engine, propeller, etc.)

 


Efficiency Monitoring System for a Diesel Engine (ITU Project)

Note 1: This project was for mesurement of important parameters of a diesel engine, such as torque, RPM, fuel consumption, exhaust temperatures, scavenge pressure/temperatures, in-cylinder maximum pressures, cover top vibrations, shaft vibrations, etc. A diagnostics and prognostics tool is being developed.
Note: Some sensors could not be acquired due to project funding issues.
Note 3: A Ph.D. student continue study for his PhD thesis
